Volunteering
Volunteering for our Community
Our volunteers provide a variety of services for our patients, families, and staff. Volunteering is a rewarding way to serve your community. It challenges your spirit, fills your heart, and enriches your life. As a hospice volunteer, you’re sure to meet extraordinary people who will share their incredible journeys with you. The connections you make through our organization spread wide throughout Lake County and the surrounding areas. You never know who you’ll meet!
We all have needs. You may be searching for a renewed sense of purpose, a quest for spirituality, or the possibility to work to fill idle moments. Maybe you’re looking for the opportunity to touch someone’s heart and to be touched in return. Give us a chance to make your experience as rewarding for you, as it is for us. Tell us what you’re looking for, and we’ll help you find it!
For more information about Volunteer Opportunities call 707.263.6222 and we will discuss current agency needs to match your talents and interests.

Some of the Ways you can Volunteer with us
Although special skills and training are always appreciated, we value and honor all of our volunteers regardless of experience level. Through volunteering for Lake Circle of Care, you will be appropriately trained in whatever role you are interested, and you will always have our support in branching out into other roles of interest as well. We are always looking for volunteers that are compassionate, dependable, committed, and able to maintain confidentiality. If this is you, we would love to have you join our valued volunteer team!
Bereavement Volunteers
Supporting the family and friends through and after the death of a loved one can be equally as much of a heartfelt experience as caring for a patient. We have a dedicated team of volunteers who assist our Bereavement services through:
-
Visits and phone calls
-
Facilitation of bereavement support groups
-
Chaplain / Spiritual (non-denominational) visits and phone calls
-
Participating in the Wings of Hope family bereavement camp program
-
Supporting K-12 students in the Wings of Hope School Program

Clerical / Administrative
Join our amazing staff at the office on your own schedule! We provide training where needed to assist with:
-
Data entry and clerical work
-
Answering phones
-
Preparing mailings and newsletters
-
Organizing supplies
-
And more!
Professionals
Professionals who wish to volunteer work closely with the staff to assist with intermittent needs of patients and families. Professionals such as massage therapists, musicians, hair stylists, barbers, counselors, lawyers, and more can offer their talents and skills in support of patients and families at a critical time.
This is a great option for those who are busier and can only be available a few times throughout the year! Or for those who wish to donate their services to our patients, families, and staff at their own discretion.

Special Projects
Do you enjoy more traditional activities in your free time? We have a team of independent volunteers who like to garden, arrange flowers, read and write book reviews, sew, quilt, crochet, knit, and many other activities. These volunteers help us maintain relaxing spaces like our memory and flower gardens, make beautiful flower arrangements for hospice patients in our “Joy in a Vase” program, as well as create special items such as blankets, prayer shawls, knitted caps and mittens, lap robes, memory bears, and fidget items like aprons, mats, blankets, and toys, to bring warmth and comfort to our hospice patients and their families.
Direct Patient and Family Support
Companionship – A comforting, compassionate presence is a powerful thing. Visit to share stories, read to the patient, help with memory recall through cards and/or board games, work on legacy projects, or just provide a quiet presence.
Special Training is required to serve as a Patient/Family Support Volunteer. Online Training is available, combined with in-person orientation and recurring optional in-services. Contact Volunteer Coordinator to know when next orientation or in-service is scheduled.
